The Kicker's Wallet: Jay Feely's Financial Disclosure Is Still Missing
Another Politician Appears to Violate the Law

Congressional primary season means it’s time to start looking into the wallets of candidates potentially headed to D.C. this fall — and one of them appears to be running behind on the paperwork.
Jay Feely, the former NFL kicker and CBS football analyst, won the Republican primary for Arizona’s 1st congressional district on July 21, according to the Associated Press.
After requesting and receiving an extension, Feely has still not filed his annual financial disclosure report that was due June 19, according to Political Wallet’s review of the House Clerk’s public disclosure site.
However, the penalty for a late filing for a candidate is $200, which is an insignificant fee for someone worth an estimated $40.7 million.
Jay Feely
Feely — full name Thomas James Feely — spent more than 10 NFL seasons as a placekicker, including a stretch with the Arizona Cardinals, before moving into broadcasting as a CBS football analyst. He announced his campaign in 2025, initially seeking Arizona’s 5th district seat, before switching to run in the 1st district after President Trump endorsed another candidate in the 5th. Both districts are in the Phoenix metro area, but the Cook Political Report rates the 1st district as a toss-up compared to the solid-Republican 5th.
Both were open races as Reps. Andy Biggs (5th) and David Schweikert (1st) ran against each other for governor. Biggs, backed by President Trump, won the primary according to the AP.
Feely filed his original candidate financial disclosure report on August 20, 2025, covering the period from January 1, 2024, through July 21, 2025. That report is the most recent public look at his finances — no annual update has posted publicly since.
Since 1998, Feely has reportedly served as a board member for the privately owned Klein Tools — the same year he married his wife, Rebecca, and when he finished at the University of Michigan.
According to a 2001 obituary of his maternal grandfather published in the Chicago Sun-Times, Feely is directly related to the Klein Tools founder. Feely campaigns on his business acumen, but his board appointment to the private company when just finishing college appears to be more due to nepotism rather than any acquired business acumen of a 20-something collegiate athlete.
Rebecca (née Dawson) Feely previously worked as an anatomy and biology teacher at Gilbert Christian high school, and Jay was previously a school board member.
Current Net Worth: $40.7 million
Assets: $40.7 million — five properties (rental properties in Gilbert and Champion, Michigan), a Merrill Lynch brokerage account and IRA holding dozens of individual stocks, a Schwab brokerage account, a Gemini crypto account (bitcoin, ether, XRP, dogecoin, litecoin and several smaller tokens), an NFL pension and annuity not yet in payout, and stakes in three privately held companies — Klein Tools (board member/shareholder, valued between $5 million and $25 million), Gevity (angel investor) and Kumanu (angel investor).
Liabilities: None disclosed.
Income (cy2024): $214k CBS salary, plus $2.5k in NFL Players Inc. appearance fees and dividend income across the brokerage accounts.
He also disclosed serving as president/CEO of the Feely Family Foundation.
What Are We Missing?
The House Ethics Committee declined to comment when asked whether a late fee has been assessed.
Multiple requests to his campaign and other relevant parties for comment have gone unanswered.
Klein Tools has not replied to our requests regarding Feely’s board position and its origin.
Feely did not disclose any spouse-held assets and only one jointly held Wells Fargo account worth between $1 million and $5 million.
So What?
$200. That’s the late fee assessed once a filer passes 30 days beyond their deadline (or their extension deadline) — a number that hasn’t changed in years and means little against the wealth Feely disclosed just 11 months ago.
Feely is heading toward a possible general election victory in November without an updated public accounting of his finances, even as he’s spent the campaign leaning on his football fame and business background.
Why Does It Matter?
Please be informed of your politicians’ personal finances.
That’s our goal at Political Wallet. We believe it is important for constituents to understand how their government officials’ personal finances may affect their policymaking decisions, as well as being aware of the potential income and wealth gap between many politicians and their constituents.
Remember our favorite questions: Would you make a decision that costs your family money for the public good? Isn’t that what we ask of our government officials?
