Introducing Hunter's Political Wealth Index
Tracking U.S. Politicians' Personal Finances
Returning to What You Know
After a long sabbatical in the traditional tech space and ongoing chronic health issues, I’m getting back to what I know best: reporting on U.S. politicians’ personal financial information.
1. Follow the money…
Constituents deserve to know their public officials’ potential conflicts of interest and risks for corruption. Monitoring the personal finances of U.S. politicians helps with accountability and public trust. Traditional D.C.-based news organizations (like my former employers) have stopped covering the wealth of Congress and the personal finances of U.S. politicians in depth. I’m here to fill that gap as best I can.
2. What to expect…
I’ll be publishing regular updates regarding the personal finances of select U.S. politicians starting with U.S. Senators. Subscribers can expect topical news stories on politicians’ investments and personal holdings as well as larger reports on the cumulative rankings and net worth across members of Congress.
As a launch day exclusive, read about the two richest sitting U.S. Senators now.
#1 Rick Scott, R-FL
#2 Mitt Romney, R-UT
3. Ethical code…
As an experienced journalist, I aim to present all information in a factual manner and rely on publicly disclosed information from official government sources as much as possible. I am well aware of my own personal biases and motivations for starting this endeavor and will attempt to disclose any conflicts and be as transparent as possible with you, my readers and subscribers.
